On the 30th of June 2022, the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union will host the Campus of European Universities (Eurocampus) at the Palais des Congrès in Versailles. This is the final event of the French Presidency, and was initially announced by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

The Campus of European Universities will provide space for a dialogue between alliances of European universities, Member States, European Commission, and different stakeholders representing the higher education sector. The campus will seek to highlight the contribution of European universities to the European education model, as well as to strengthen exchanges between alliances and support the global dimension of European universities.

Isabella Baer-Eiselt – EU-CONEXUS Executive Director – says “EU-CONEXUS has high expectations for the Campus of European Universities. It is most important to bring the successes of the European University Initiative to the attention of Member States’ authorities and partners from the social and economic sphere. Only by combining local, regional, national and European activities, policies and also funding, the European society can fully benefit from joined forces in higher education, research and innovation.”

The Campus is made up of two parallel components, which are intended to complement each other: Two plenaries and five workshops, and the “Village of the Alliances” – a space dedicated to showcasing the activities and results of the 41 European university alliances.

Klaipeda University Rector, Arturas Razbadauskas, will be one of five panel speakers in Workshop C, presenting EU-CONEXUS within the theme “Role models for the transformation of European higher education”. Specifically, he will address the impact of transnational cooperation carried out by European University alliances at three complementary levels: a. For the benefit of European students; b. For the development of institutional strategies; and c. For the modernisation of national systems of education.
