Valorization of Food Waste to Develope Biodegradable Packaging Materials

Around 1/3 of the food produced in the world for human consumption is wasted. As a consequence, it is urgent to develop new methods in order to extend the shelf-life of the food and reduce the amount of waste. At the same time, the packaging field contributes significantly to the carbon footprint. The valorization of food waste as packaging materials is a promising technique to replace petroleum-based polymers.
