Vegetation composition, Trophic Status and Yield assessment of rotational Pastures in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
This one-week research internship provides an overview of the grassland-related tasks involved in the AutoPasture project. The focus is on spatio-temporal nutrient dynamics in pastures on cattle husbandry farms in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with different demands on grassland management due to different production goals. It comprises for example the management of suckler cows, dairy cattle and water buffalos in peatlands.
A complete data gathering campaign will be planed and performed including soil nutrient and vegetation analysis. Field work, sample preparation, lab measurements and IT based analysis (QGIS / R Studio) are planed for the stay. The one-week internship will happen between the 10th and 21st of august.
General learning outcomes
- Organizing sampling campaigns in field trials
- Sample preparation (Soil, Biomass) and measurement
- Data analysis and visualization in R/ R Studio
- Basic skills in QGIS regarding geo-statistics and spatial interpolation methods
