Diagnosis of fish diseases in aquaculture and identification of pathogens 

This Student Research Hub research project provides basic laboratory training in a hydrobiology laboratory for students who start their undergraduate and postgraduate theses, and integration of different appropriate qualitative and quantitative approaches for fish pathogens. It also involves taking part in experimental trials and handling diseased fish for diagnosis.

General Learning outcomes 

  • Increased awareness of fish diseases and the problems they bring to the aquaculture sector
  • Ability to identify some pathogens through microscopy and microbial cultures
  • Advanced skills related to literature search
  • Ability to practically handle microbial and parasitic pathogens

Laboratory of Applied Hydrobiology, AUA

Assessment method: 

Written report/presentation of results

Prerequisites for participating students: 

Completing year 3 of postgraduate studies
