Developing intercultural and democratic competences in Higher Education
This Student Research Hub project, titled “Developing intercultural and democratic competences in Higher Education”, is designed to foster inclusive dialogue and civic engagement among students.
The programme is structured around several core thematic learning pillars allowing the students to explore EU values and human rights, cultural diversity, aspects of minorities, democratic culture, etc.
Students will engage with the Council of Europe’s Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) and design their own campaigns for active citizenship and youth participation.
Using theoretical background the students will apply inclusive pedagogy methodology to adapt digital teaching by moving from simple tools to the creation of inclusive and democratic learning environments.
General learning outcomes
- LO1. The student understands facts, principles, processes, and general concepts in the fields of culture, cultural diversity, and intercultural dialogue.
- LO2. The student reflects on the socialization process within contexts of cultural diversity.
- LO3. The student proposes strategies for the development of European values and the promotion of human dignity.
- LO4. The student identifies distortions and misinformation in social media discourse.
- LO5. The student applies educational resources from the Council of Europe (RFCDC, Global Education, etc.) to develop the values of inclusive European citizenship.
