On October 1, 2025, the University of Zadar hosted the EU-CONEXUS & IamStudent Student Welcome Day, an interactive on-campus event designed to introduce incoming first-year students to the European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability (EU-CONEXUS) and the IamStudent initiative. Held in the morning in front of the university building, the event welcomed students as they arrived for their first day and offered a dynamic space to learn about life within the EU-CONEXUS alliance.
An Interactive Welcome on Campus
EU-CONEXUS staff members, together with two student ambassadors, hosted an information stand featuring engaging activities where students could participate in small quizzes, explore informational materials, and interact directly with the team. Through these conversations, students received first-hand insights into alliance-wide opportunities, including mobility options, the Ambassador Program, the Student Board, student projects, as well as guidance on using the Campus Life webpage as a central source of information.
Students also received EU-CONEXUS and IamStudent promotional materials, which made the event visually engaging and encouraged further curiosity. Many stopped to ask questions, participate in activities, and learn more about the educational programmes available to them.
Becoming Part of a Wider European Community
These efforts greatly increased awareness among first-year students and highlighted that joining the University of Zadar also means becoming part of a wider European community. The event provided a warm introduction not only to university life, but also to the broader network of opportunities offered by EU-CONEXUS.
With the student ambassadors sharing their personal experiences, the Student Board Secretary providing insights into student projects, and other EU-CONEXUS staff offering additional information about the alliance and student opportunities, the event created a positive, relatable entry point into the EU-CONEXUS community.
By the end of the morning, students left with a clearer understanding of how they can join student projects, get involved in the Student Board and Ambassador Program, engage in the educational offer, and take an active role within the EU-CONEXUS community.
