@frederick_university recently hosted academic staff members from EU-CONEXUS partner universities for a three-day training session on Digital Pedagogies, Technology, and Literacy, offered by the EU-CONEXUS Teaching Academy 🌍💡.

Designed specifically for faculty within the EU-CONEXUS alliance, this hands-on training provided participants with the knowledge and tools to understand and apply emerging technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches in higher education.

Attendees left equipped with the skills and insights to integrate these technologies into their teaching practices effectively, efficiently, and ethically.

The training was designed, developed, and delivered by Frederick University’s Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching (CIET). A special thank you to the trainers who led the sessions:

🌊 What if jellyfish weren’t just beach pests… but a sustainable resource for collagen?

For years, jellyfish washed ashore were a headache for fishermen and sunbathers along Spain’s coasts. But now, the COLMED project is flipping the script and transforming this “marine nuisance” into a biotech breakthrough.

How? By extracting marine collagen from jellyfish species like Rhizostoma pulmo – a protein goldmine for skincare, medicine, and more.

The best part? It’s ethical, sustainable, and supports local fishing communities ♻️

Led by Dr. Charles Berville — engineer, researcher in sustainable built environments, and co-founder of ClimatoSfera — the event helped participants explore one of the most pressing global issues of the coming decade: climate change.

💡 Through an interactive format powered by Mentimeter, attendees didn't just listen — they engaged. Why? Because involvement means impact: participants retain up to 30% of what they actively take part in, compared to just 3% of a passive lecture!

Together, they explored how individuals, communities, and institutions can rethink their impact and take steps toward a more sustainable future.

Special thanks to @climato.sfera, the NGO working tirelessly to raise awareness, drive real action, and support sustainable projects across Romania and beyond.
