Multidisciplinary oceanographic research in coastal ecosystems: analysis of physical and chemical data
This Research Student Hub project aims to provide basic knowledge for a multidisciplinary oceanographic characterization of a coastal area. Students will conduct a multidisciplinary oceanographic characterization of a coastal area, integrating physical, chemical, biological, and geological data to develop a comprehensive understanding of coastal ecosystem
General learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- identify and describe basic physical and chemical characteristics (such as temperature, salinity, and nutrients) in coastal ecosystems using simple oceanographic data.
- interpret and explain simple datasets from multidisciplinary oceanographic studies to understand how physical and chemical factors affect coastal environments.
- evaluate seasonal variations in physico-chemical parameters of the water column using both in situ detection and laboratory methods.
