Minor Programmes
Minor programme, sometimes called a specialisation, is an interdisciplinary set of courses that you can freely select to build your own itinerary of 30 ECTS throughout your Bachelor studies. EU-CONEXUS Minors, offered at seven EU-CONEXUS universities, are a great way to add value to your studies: not only will you gain insights into the subject matter, but you’ll also study with classmates from all over Europe and learn how to work in an intercultural virtual classroom.
Depending on your main study programme at your university, you can choose an EU-CONEXUS Minor as part of your Bachelor study path or in addition to it.
You can either:
- Complete the whole Minor programme of 30 ECTS throughout your Bachelor studies (for example, by taking one Minor course during each semester). To do this, you’ll have to take five Minor courses from three different universities and two different thematic sectors,
or
- Take individual courses — as many as you like!
For more details on how to plan your itinerary, talk to your Minor Officer (check the Contacts section below).
The Minors offered are:
WORKLOAD & DELIVERY:
Each Minor course consists of 6 ECTS, which usually means 3–4 hours of online synchronous classes each week, plus autonomous work at your own pace in the EU-CONEXUS Moodle.
To complete the full Minor programme, you need to pass 30 ECTS; that is, five Minor courses of 6 ECTS each, which you can take throughout your studies.
Minor courses are delivered within the EU-CONEXUS Academic Calendar:
• Autumn semester: from 1 October to mid-January
• Spring semester: from mid-February to mid-June
Most Minor courses are virtual-only, while some may include a compulsory 5-day in-person mobility at the home university delivering the Minor. Consult your Minor Officer to know which courses include the in-person mobility and when it will take place.
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for this programme, you need to be a Bachelor student (first-cycle student) at one of the EU-CONEXUS universities and have at least a B2 level of English.
Some courses have additional prerequisites — you can consult them in the catalogues.
CERTIFICATION:
Depending on the courses you take, you will receive the following certification:
- Minor Certificate – awarded at the end of your Bachelor studies to students who complete the full programme (30 ECTS), with courses from at least three different EU-CONEXUS universities and at least two different thematic sectors.
- Courses in the European Diploma Supplement – whether you complete the full programme or just take individual courses, all of them will be listed in the European Diploma Supplement.
APPLICATION:
Even though the requirements are the same for all EU-CONEXUS students, the application process may vary at each university. Contact your local Minor Officer for specific information about the process at your institution (see Contacts below).
TIMETABLE
The synchronous classes of Minor courses take place online according to a timetable, which will be published a few weeks before the semester.
CATALOGUE:
The minors catalogue is a file where you can find all the information about the programme and descriptions of each course. It will help you plan your itinerary. Click on a specific Minor below to check its catalogue.

Testimonials:
Ștefan Bunescu – UTCB
“Taking the EU-CONEXUS Minor in Blue Economy and Growth was one of my best decisions this year. It reignited old passions, sparked new interests, and helped me develop both technical knowledge and soft skills.
I particularly enjoyed the Introduction to Underwater Archaeology course, especially the field trip to Caska to help excavate a Roman shipwreck. Courses like Energy from Renewable Sources II and Sea Transport Development deepened my understanding of key topics. The Minor also helped me improve my English in real academic settings. I strongly recommend it to anyone curious about the blue economy.”

Juan Esteban Caicedo – UCV
“Taking part in the Minor in Blue Economy and Growth was a truly enriching experience. It allowed me to connect with students and professors from across Europe, broadening my academic and cultural horizons and improving my English skills through real academic and social interactions.
Exploring ocean-related topics from different perspectives complemented my Marine Sciences degree. This multidisciplinary approach gave me a more global view of the sector. I now feel more confident and prepared for international projects and professional challenges.”
