Language Café

Language Café is a fun, informal online space where students from different European universities come together to chat, laugh, and learn languages naturally.
You will practice by talking with other students who are native or stronger speakers, while also helping them in return.

Think of it as a virtual café where languages are shared, friendships are built, and confidence grows.

• You will be matched in pairs or small groups
• You meet once per week
• Each session lasts 1 hour
• The activity runs for 4 consecutive weeks

That’s it – simple and flexible!

There is no fixed platform.
You and your group decide how to meet:

Whatever app you already use and feel comfortable with.

You also decide the rhythm and topics – music, travel, student life, food, culture… anything goes!

This is not a class! It’s a shared experience.

Are you a student with a high level of English, Spanish, or French?
Do you enjoy meeting people, supporting others, and creating welcoming spaces?
Then we invite you to become a Language Café Facilitator!

Language Café is part of the Erasmus+ IamStudent project of the EU CONEXUS alliance, and facilitators play a key role in making this experience engaging, friendly, and fun for all participants.

As a facilitator, you are not a teacher.
Your role is to:

• Help create a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere
• Encourage conversation and participation
• Support students who are learning the language
• Keep the discussion flowing in a natural, informal way
• Foster intercultural exchange and connection

You guide, motivate, and inspire – all through conversation.

• Support fellow students in their language-learning journey
• Meet students from different European universities and cultures
• Gain experience in facilitation, communication, and leadership
• Strengthen your own language and intercultural skills
• Be part of an international Erasmus+ initiative

Most importantly, you help create a space where learning feels fun, human, and accessible.

• Facilitate 1-hour sessions
• Once per week
• For 4 consecutive weeks
• Online, using platforms agreed with your group

* Flexible, manageable, and compatible with student life.

After successfully completing the four sessions, facilitators will receive a special Certificate of Facilitation, officially recognizing your role as a Language Café Facilitator within the EU CONEXUS Erasmus+ activity.

This certificate is a great addition to your:

• CV
• Portfolio
• Erasmus+ and volunteering experience

• Students who are native speakers or have a high level of:
  English
  French
  Spanish
• Students who are open-minded, friendly, and motivated
• No prior teaching experience required
