Pollution and treatment of stormwater runoff (with focus on non-urban land uses)
Stormwater pollution, its characterisation and treatment are widely investigated research topics. When it comes to national implementation of stormwater treatment, the approaches seem to differ. In parallel, non-urban runoff from highly polluted areas (e.g., agricultural farms) is purely investigated and regulated.
The seminar will start with a short overview of stormwater pollution and present the specific German approach of urban stormwater characterisation and treatment. In the second part, the high relevance of non-urban runoff on surface water quality will be discussed with examples. The seminar shall foster the discussion for a strategic stormwater treatment for the sake of our surface waters.
