Short description of the course:

Students enrolled in this course will go on a journey across bilingualism. Immersed in an international and multilingual environment as that of EU-CONEXUS, we will explore topics such as the following: How do we acquire language(s) and what does it mean to know a language? How many different types of bilinguals are there? Can bilingual development contribute to the shaping of the brain? How does constant juggling between languages affect cognitive functioning (e.g. attention, control)? What are the manifestations of the contact of different linguistic systems? Are there principles governing the switching between languages? How do we obtain the data needed for investigating bilingual development?

EU-CONEXUS was represented at the Begin Edu Fair i EU-CONEXUS was represented at the Begin Edu Fair in Cairo by @utcbro colleagues Cristian Rusanu and Lavinia Turcu, helping prospective students and Egyptian partners learn more about study opportunities within UTCB and EU-CONEXUS. 🇷🇴🇪🇺🇪🇬 From 12–15 November 2025, representatives of the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB), together with 10 other Romanian universities, took part in events promoting Romanian higher education. The UTCB delegation included Cristian Rușanu, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages, and Lavinia Turcu, Interim Director of the International Relations Office and EU-CONEXUS Communication & External Relations Coordinator. Throughout the week, participants engaged in: ▶️ A meeting with the Romanian Ambassador to Egypt, H.E. 🏆 Iván Toro, from the #EUCONEXUS Joint Master Prog 🏆 Iván Toro, from the #EUCONEXUS Joint Master Programme in Marine Biotechnology (JMPMB) at @universidadcatolicavalencia , has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious InnoServe Awards, held in Taiwan, one of the world’s leading international events in technological innovation applied to sustainability and biotechnology. 🧪 Among 11 finalists selected from hundreds of projects worldwide, his project, Envirovex, uses AI to remove antibiotics from wastewater, tackling urgent environmental and health challenges. 🤖🔬 The international team included students from India, the USA, Hong Kong, and the UK, demonstrating how EU-CONEXUS fosters global collaboration to create sustainable solutions for coastal urban environments. 🌐 #EUCONEXUS #JMPMB #InnoServeAwards #Finalist #TechInnovation #UCVinternational #europeanuniversities
