Application of digital analytics in the delivery of performance led urban futures 

The student Research Hub project will be hosted by Frederick University in Limassol. It brings together students and staff from Architectural & BIM Technology, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Sustainability and related AEC disciplines to work on a real Limassol urban challenge. Mixed international teams develop integrated proposals through BIM-based collaboration. 

The programme explores how BIM can work together to support sustainable and accountable AEC decision-making. BIM provides the structured information environment for coordination, simulation, cost, time and constructability. 

Students complete online preparation, three synchronous virtual sessions, a five-day physical intensive workshop in Cyprus and a final online follow-up. The final output is an evidence-based AEC proposal for Limassol, supported by a coordinated BIM model, performance evidence, cost/time logic, final posters and a short presentation.

General learning outcomes

• Set up and contribute to an interdisciplinary BIM workflow within a common data environment. 

• Use BIM tools critically in early design research, option development, analysis and communication. 

• Develop a coordinated architectural/urban proposal that considers structure, services, sustainability, cost and construction logic. 

• Use simulation and model-derived information to support design decisions. 

• Communicate a complex AEC proposal through models, drawings, posters, video/AV material and an evidence-based project narrative.
