Held alongside EENVIRO 2026 – the International Conference on Sustainable and Resilient Solutions for Energy and Environment – the workshop provided an opportunity to strengthen connections between CoReS and the wider research community working on sustainability, energy and environmental challenges.

Supporting the development of CoReS

The workshop addressed key aspects of the journal’s development, including editorial workflows, submissions, reviewer recruitment and current challenges. The programme also covered the journal’s AI policy and article template.

A dedicated hands-on session focused on developing the CoReS reviewer database, with the aim of identifying potential reviewers and expanding the expertise available to support the journal’s peer-review process.

The University of Zadar’s contribution to the development of CoReS is led by Associate Professor Drahomira Cupar.

Connecting conference research with future CoReS submissions

The workshop explored how research presented at EENVIRO could contribute to future issues of CoReS. Participants discussed identifying relevant conference papers and inviting their authors to consider submitting their work to the journal.

The discussion also addressed how to raise CoReS’s visibility among potential authors and reviewers, strengthen its scientific profile and connect with conferences, workshops and other events that could provide opportunities to share research through the journal.

Advancing open science across the Alliance

Alongside the journal’s development, the workshop addressed the EU-CONEXUS Open Science Community Portal, including plans to update EU-CONEXUS Connect in OpenAIRE. Topics included identifying repositories and research outputs, as well as those responsible for repositories and open-access publications across partner institutions.

The programme also looked beyond the ENABLES project, considering the long-term integration of CoReS and the Open Science Community Portal into the EU-CONEXUS Alliance. Sustainability, governance, visibility and long-term responsibility were central themes.

By bringing together journal development, research dissemination and open science infrastructure, the workshop supported a coordinated approach to improving the accessibility and visibility of research across the Alliance.
