From 7 to 11 September 2026, Frederick University, Cyprus, hosted the EU-CONEXUS Micro-credentials Autumn School 2026, bringing together more than 50 students from all EU-CONEXUS universities for an intensive week dedicated to โTransferring Green Knowledge into Urban Action.โ
The Micro-credentials Autumn School is part of the EU-CONEXUS micro-credential programme, which provides Bachelor students with opportunities to develop focused entrepreneurial, green and digital competences through short, intensive learning experiences. Physical micro-credential schools are delivered as one-week international mobilities, combining academic learning with cultural and social activities.
Hosted at Frederick Universityโs Nicosia campus, the Micro-credentials Autumn School offered students an interdisciplinary programme exploring how knowledge, research and technical skills can contribute to more sustainable societies.
Participants were asked to join one of two groups, with each group focusing on a different thematic area, reflecting the broader EU-CONEXUS focus on developing skills relevant to the future of smart and sustainable urban coastal communities.
The first group focused on developing green competences and translating research into practical action, particularly in the field of healthcare, while the second group focused on skills for PV systems installers and innovations related to sustainable urban development.
Beyond the classroom, the Micro-credentials Autumn School provided opportunities for students to experience Cyprus and connect with fellow participants in an informal and intercultural setting. A city tour of Nicosia took place on Tuesday, 8 September, giving participants the opportunity to explore the host city together. The programme also included a Cypriot BBQ and dancing workshop on Thursday evening, creating a relaxed environment for social interaction and cultural exchange. The five-day programme concluded on Friday, 11 September, with final teaching sessions followed by the closing ceremony, where participants received their certificates of participation.
The Autumn School highlighted the added value of the EU-CONEXUS in-person Micro-credentials academic offer, combining academic learning with European mobility and the development of industry-focused skills. Through this experience, students broadened their perspectives, built international connections and acquired skills that can enhance their future employability and support their transition into the labour market.
