The 5th edition of the European Student Assembly took place in Strasbourg from 20 to 22 April 2026, bringing together student representatives from across Europe to discuss key challenges and policy directions for the future of the European Union.
EU-CONEXUS played an active role in the event, contributing to this large-scale student-led initiative aimed at strengthening democratic participation and cross-border collaboration. The Alliance was represented by four student panelists, one alumnus and the EU-CONEXUS Student Board Secretary.
Our student representatives — Martin Huslik (SETU), Emilio Joya (UCV), Nikolaos Chrondronasios (AUA) and Maria Niamh Bratcovici (UTCB) — together with alumnus Philipp Schubert (UROS), took part in structured discussions across four thematic panels. Throughout the Assembly, they engaged with peers from across Europe, exchanging perspectives on pressing societal, environmental and educational issues.
In addition to panel discussions, participants contributed to plenary sessions where they voted on policy recommendations developed during the Assembly. These recommendations are intended to inform future European initiatives and reflect the collective voice of participating students.
The EU-CONEXUS delegation also participated in the Village of Alliances, an interactive space where European University Alliances showcased their activities, fostered collaboration and strengthened connections within the broader European higher education landscape. Through this engagement, EU-CONEXUS further promoted its mission of fostering interdisciplinary education, research and student involvement across its partner universities.
The participation of EU-CONEXUS students and alumni in the European Student Assembly highlights the Alliance’s commitment to empowering student voices and supporting active engagement in shaping the future of Europe.
“Participating in the European Student Assembly in Strasbourg and experiencing the European Parliament firsthand showed me how powerful it is when young people from across Europe come together to turn ideas into real impact.“
Maria Niamh Bratcovici (UTCB)
“Being part of ESA 26 was a nourishing experience, to talk and share opinions with young people coming from many different backgrounds made me realize that we share not only challenges but an urge to act and cooperate for a better tomorrow, and by acknowledging that the future of Europe and the world is in very capable hands.“
Emilio Joya (UCV)
