The very 1st edition of the EU-CONEXUS Summer School on Sustainability Microcredentials took place on 7-11 July, 2025. It was hosted by UTCB, uniting 46 students from 8 universities of the Alliance.

This summer school marked an important moment for the Alliance, serving as a concrete step towards the diversification and internationalisation of learning forms in European higher education.

For a week, students participated in short-term microcredentials courses led by teaching staff from Romania, Spain, and Germany. The meetings took place not only in UTCB classrooms but also outside of them. Some of the titles included:

  • “Traditional Timber Houses Carpentry in Seismic and Coastal Areas” by Andreea Duțu, UTCB.
  • “Social Entrepreneurship and Commitment in SmUCS” by Johann-Christian Põder, University of Rostock.
  • “English Communication for Sustainable Development” by Arash Javadinejad, Catholic University of Valencia.

Thank you to all actors involved in the success of this 1st edition:

  • UTCB university management for the support offered to the organisers within the UTCB International Relations Center.
  • Volunteers of ASCB – Construction Students Association of Bucharest – for their valuable contribution within this project
  • Cuibul Artiştilor for an evening that brought even more colour to this experience.

The EU-CONEXUS Summer School on Sustainability Micro-credentials proved to be more than just an academic program—it was a hands-on, forward-looking experience that empowered students with practical tools for the future. Over the course of the program, 46 bachelor students from eight EU-CONEXUS partner countries completed two 1-ECTS micro-credentials designed to foster green, digital, and entrepreneurial skills.

By learning directly from international professors and global experts in dynamic face-to-face settings, students not only expanded their knowledge of sustainability but also strengthened their English proficiency and adaptability to diverse teaching methods. Grounded in labour market trends and real-world needs, the summer school also helped participants to improve their employability and confidence as future professionals in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
