On 11 July 2025, La Rochelle Universitรฉ hosted the graduation ceremony for the 2025 cohort of the EU-CONEXUS Joint Master Programme in Marine Biotechnology (JMPMB). The ceremony brought together graduates, academic staff, programme coordinators and families to celebrate the successful completion of the students’ two-year European master’s programme.
The graduation ceremony concluded a week of academic activities held at La Rochelle Universitรฉ. Before receiving their diplomas, students defended their master’s theses before international academic juries. The week also included meetings of the Joint Master External Advisory Board, pedagogical workshops for teaching staff and the Blue Innovation Day, dedicated to marine biotechnology and innovation.
A joint European master’s programme
The Joint Master Programme in Marine Biotechnology is delivered jointly by six EU-CONEXUS partner universities and awards a jointly recognised Master of Science degree. Taught entirely in English, the two-year programme combines academic mobility with specialised training in marine biotechnology.
Students follow courses in several partner institutions and develop expertise across the marine biotechnology value chain, from the discovery of marine bioresources to their application in sectors such as health, cosmetics, food and aquaculture. The programme also includes training in research and development management, innovation and technology transfer.
An international learning experience
International mobility is a core component of the programme, with students studying in at least two universities within the Alliance. This European pathway enables them to experience different academic environments while developing intercultural and professional skills.
The graduation ceremony marked the completion of this international academic journey and recognised the work accomplished by the students throughout the programme.
EU-CONEXUS congratulates all graduates and wishes them every success in the next stage of their careers, whether in research, industry or further academic studies.
