As part of the ZERØ1 Festival, La Rochelle Université unveiled an original artistic project combining visual arts, digital technology and European collaboration: an EU-CONEXUS mural enhanced with augmented reality.
Created on the university campus, the mural reflects the values of the EU-CONEXUS Alliance by bringing together creativity, innovation and intercultural cooperation in a single artwork.
Art, technology and European collaboration
The project brought together five students from La Rochelle Université, the University of Zadar (Croatia) and the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (Romania), who collaborated throughout the creative process.
Working across cultures and disciplines, the students exchanged ideas and perspectives to design a mural that combines traditional artistic techniques with digital technologies, illustrating the collaborative spirit that characterises the EU-CONEXUS Alliance.
Discovering the artwork through augmented reality
Beyond the painted mural itself, visitors can experience an additional digital dimension through an augmented reality application. By scanning the artwork with a mobile device, the mural comes to life, creating an interactive experience that extends beyond the physical painting.
The project illustrates how digital technologies can enrich artistic expression while making cultural experiences more engaging and accessible.
