EU-CONEXUS PhD Summer School 2025 | La Rochelle, F EU-CONEXUS PhD Summer School 2025 | La Rochelle, France 🇫🇷

Theme: Scientific Methodology & Academic Communication

21–25 July 2025✔️
Last week, 37 PhD students from across EU-CONEXUS gathered in La Rochelle for an inspiring and immersive academic experience during the 2025 edition of the EU-CONEXUS PhD Summer School. The programme focused on enhancing research methodologies and academic communication, two pillars essential to the development of Europe’s next generation of researchers.

🔎 This annual event is part of the EU-CONEXUS PhD Level Joint Actions Framework, a joint, flexible, and innovative programme coordinated at the alliance level by our partners from @utcbro . It promotes interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approaches and integrates learning outcomes focused on both research and professional development.

The summer school featured:
🔹Expert-led workshops on qualitative/quantitative methods, scientific writing, publishing, and academic outreach
🔹Intercultural teamwork, with group assignments focused on co-authoring scientific review articles for publication
🔹Transversal skill development, including the 3-minute thesis challenge and stakeholder engagement simulations

The EU-CONEXUS PhD Summer School is a unique opportunity for doctoral candidates to build their academic and personal competencies in a multicultural, interdisciplinary environment, fostering lasting networks, new research ideas, and long-term collaboration across Europe.

👏 Special thanks to @univlarochelle for hosting the 2025 edition and to UTCB for leading the coordination of this impactful initiative.

🌍 UCV hosts two EU-CONEXUS BIPs addressing cont 🌍 UCV hosts two EU-CONEXUS BIPs addressing contemporary social challenges 🎯

Throughout July, the @universidadcatolicavalencia welcomed 44 students from the 9 universities of the EU-CONEXUS Alliance for two Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) — unique learning experiences that went far beyond the classroom.

These programmes were not only about tackling real-world challenges like 🧠 disaster resilience and 🏘️ sustainable coastal living — they were also about building a common identity as EU-CONEXUS students, strengthening the sense of belonging to a European and intercultural academic community.

In “Psychology in Disaster Management”, participants explored emotional and social recovery in the face of emergencies, including real cases like the DANA storm in Valencia. In “Living on the Coast”, students analysed housing and urban challenges in fast-changing coastal cities like Valencia 🌊🏙️.

Through a mix of virtual and in-person sessions, teamwork across borders, field visits, testimonies and cultural exchanges, these BIPs became a space where students not only learned — they connected, shared, and grew as part of something bigger.

The university community carried a message close to EU-CONEXUS: for them, the sea is not only the crash of waves, the cry of seagulls, or the melody of summer holidays. 💡 It is a source of inspiration and science – a world full of life that connects ideas, continents, and people. A world that, when truly listened to, does not sound louder, but deeper. 🥰
